Allen Ginsberg & Paul McCartney: The Ballad of the skeletons

En 1995 el poeta Allen Ginsberg y Paul McCartney se unieron para crear una canción. Desde luego la música es del exbeatle y la letra es el poema de crítica política The Ballad of the Skeletons del poeta beat. A primera vista la combinación parecería algo extraña. Se sabe de la estrecha relación de Ginsberg con Bob Dylan, incluso con John Lennon. Sin embargo, McCartney muy pronto mostró su admiración a la obra poética de Allen. Eso ocurrió cuando Dylan, de gira en Londres y Ginsberg recién llegado a la ciudad al ser expulsado de la entonces Checoslovaquia, coincidieron con los cuatro músicos de Liverpool. En aquel momento Ginsberg se interesó mucho en esos muchachos que tenían el mundo en sus manos y no dejó de apuntar, años más tarde lo hizo público, su ingenuidad y frescura. Desde luego la vivacidad y humor negro de Lennon le interesaron de inmediato, pero fue con McCartney con quien tuvo una relación artística, ya que de inmediato se manifestó el interés de compositor de Yesterday, Helter Skelter, Let It Be, con la obra de los Beats. De esa relación se fraguó durante años una colaboración musical-poética. El resultado es The Ballad of the Skeletons, que se presentó en forma de sencillo en 1995. Hubo una actuación en vivo por parte de estos creadores en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres el 16 de octubre de 1995. Así pues los dejamos con estos dos genios y esta composición crítica de su tiempo.
